Call to application for the regional selection of 3 Minute Thesis
Registrations to participate in the 3 Minute Thesis regional preselections are open ! This action offers doctoral students the opportunity to present their research in just three minutes, in a clear and engaging manner, in English.

Each year, the COIMBRA Group organizes the 3 Minute Thesis competition on a European scale in which member universities of the group are invited to participate. Thus, each member university organizes a regional competition to select the candidate who will represent it for the final competition.
In this context, the LR Doctoral College and the Doctoral College of the University of Montpellier organize each year a regional final in order to select the candidate who will represent the region at the European final.
Regional Calendar
November 4, 2024 : Opening of registrations on ADUM
January 12, 2025 2025 : Closing of registrations
January 17, 2025 : Pre-selection jury in Montpellier
January 28 and February 4, 13, 18, 25 : Half-day (from 2 to 5.30 PM) training in Montpellier to prepare and adjust your presentations
March 6, 2025 at Jean Monnet high school (Montpellier) : Occitanie-Est regional final to select the candidate who will represent the group in the European final
Training
To prepare candidates for the regional final, trainings are organized by the both doctoral colleges and provided by professionals :
- Patrick Sandrat for the scientific popularization
- Lynn Blin to improve your speaking skills in English

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To participate in 3 Minute Thesis, participants must meet the following eligibility conditions :
- Be able to express yourself in English
- Be registered for a doctorate in 2024-2025 in one of the universities within the scope of the LR Doctoral College (IMT des Mines d’Alès, the University of Nîmes, the University of Perpignan Via Domitia, the Paul Valéry University) or in one of the Doctoral Schools of the Doctoral College of the University of Montpellier.
- Have completed their 1st year of research and doctoral training
- Be able to present an advanced and sufficiently clear research plan
- Having informed their thesis director and/or funders and their unit director of their participation in the competition
- Accept and authorize the use and distribution of videos and photos relating to the competition, particularly on social networks
- Take note of the defined calendar (date of selections, dates of training, dates of the regional final, date of the international final)
HOW PARTICIPATE ?
Doctoral students, whether attached to the Doctoral College of the University of Montpellier or the Languedoc-Roussillon Doctoral College, wishing to participate in 3 Minutes Thesis must:
- register via the ADUM platform between 4th November 2024 and 12th January 2025
- then send the registration form signed by the thesis director and the candidate by email to collegedoctoral@unimes.fr.
